Should you leave your marriage?

If anyone is asking this question then clearly it’s time to start taking action. No one should be in a relationship that helps them to feel consistently bad ever!

So what should you do?

The first step is to see if it’s possible to fix what is helping you to feel bad about yourself when you are with your partner.

Many couples who work with me discover that together over time they have created a dynamic that doesn’t work without knowing, but it doesn’t mean they are not compatible.

So it’s critical that you do all you can before you dramatically change the direction of your life forever. This is especially important if you have children.

Start by being honest

Many couples come to me telling me they have felt dreadful for years. My question is always “why did you let this go on for so long?”

Their answers is “I did tell my partner, they put effort in for a while, but it just went back to how it was.”

This is the critical point most couples miss. If after you have been honest and put effort in and it still hasn’t worked DON’T LET THIS GO and say nothing.

Too many people will say “I was honest, we did try, nothing changed” and yet, by then doing nothing, they are giving their partner the message that all is OK now. I’m feeling better now and what you’re doing is working for me.

If your not feeling right don’t let it go until you get a solution.

It might be you, it might be your partner, it maybe that life has changed, or one of you has changed or…

It could be that you did make a mistake and you shouldn’t have married and had children together.

BUT please find out, do all you can. Learn be open to what you don’t know, become curious about how the opposite sex thinks, feels and works.

You have a responsibility to you to become courageous and do what’s right and not what seems to be easy in the short term.

I will share why this advice is important

Too many people do what’s easy in the moment and spend the rest of their lives finding life hard. My advice is this: Have the courage to do what’s hard in the moment so it frees you to know how make the rest of your life easy.
