One of the keys to a successful relationship / marriage is understanding or at least a desire to understand your partners’ emotions.
If you or your partner feels something, that feeling is real and needs to be respected.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with their reasons behind why they are upset, what’s important is the person you say you care/love about is in trouble emotionally and your job is to care and to help them.
Or to seek help to understand challenges you can’t get over together.
If your partner is upset again and again about the same or similar things, they are not mad or crazy they are trying to communicate something to you.
If when your partner becomes upset or emotional they are in fear and they need your help. If you mirror their behavior and become frustrated or angry then you are in fear too.
That to them means it’s proof of two damaging things for any relationship.
- One is they can’t be honest about how they feel = loss of trust
- They are not understood = loss of love
When someone in a relationship feels they can’t be honest about how they feel because their partner makes their pain all about them we then have a problem.
This will lead to resentment which if unchecked could lead to loss of respect and detachment from the relationship and this is dangerous as the relationship is now at risk.
