As we grow from children into adults we are conditioned that if we work hard get a good education we’ll have the opportunity to create the lives we want.
So we put 1000’s of hours into developing our professional skills in our quest to get the lives we want.
So my question is this if education is so critical, why do we expect our relationships to happen naturally with no education?
How is it even possible for two people to meet have no relationship building skills and expect their relationship to last?
Of course it won’t and even if the couple are still together the chances of their intimacy being dead is going to be high.
No one would expect someone to be good at their careers with no education, so why is the expectation there for our personal relationships?
This post came to mind yesterday as I reflected on yet another couple in their last session with me. They were so excited about their future they were now planning a wedding, children, traveling and lot’s of adventures.
As I watched their excitement grow in the session I reflected on the journey they had taken.
Just 4 weeks before they were convinced their relationship was dead.
They couldn’t live with each other, they had tried and failed many times over the years. They had been engaged, but had broken it off.
As this couple went through the process they followed the steps I designed to help them overcome their specific challenge.
In four weeks the couple were educated on the principals of building successful relationships.
He said “I used to dread coming home and now I can’t wait”
She said “I didn’t feel that I could trust him and now I can he has totally changed”
If this couple had not received the critical education they needed the relationship would have died.
Many couples are in this place, but they don’t need to be.
Plus most couples can turn around their relationships in a few weeks with the right focus.
So isn’t it time you invested in you and you discovered your truth?
