He put £££millions on red and lost.
In my many years of helping people out of crisis every so often surprising stories turn-up, private detectives, escorts, fetishes, I’ve really seen it all.
One gentleman had so many affairs going he was going mad about who he had told what to.
His wife knew about one affair, but she didn’t know about the other three.
One affair partner knew about his wife, the other two didn’t, but one did know he was seeing another girl and the other was oblivious to it all.
She thought she was his girlfriend and they were heading towards marriage.
I really never know what is going to walk through the door.
One gentleman came in with an interesting problem.
He said “I have put our entire life savings on red (£10s of millions) and lost.
“I don’t know how to tell my wife can you help me”?
I had to know…
“Why did you do this?” I asked
He replied “Well £300 million seemed like a great number that was what I would have got if I’d won”
“I don’t disagree it’s an amazing number, but what was it for? You already had more than you needed”? He was over 70.
He took a moment to answer and shaking his head he said…
“…I don’t know”!
That was a shocking answer and I could see he agreed.
His story was one that stuck out, but it got me thinking.
What’s it for?
So many people are taking action in their life without knowing what they are doing them for.
Jobs, businesses, wealth goals, stuff, freedom what is it all for and if you get it will you be happy?
- How many people get the money they want only to feel empty.
- How many retire early only to be bored with this new life.
- How many buy flash cars only to be indifferent about them months later.
- How many people set up businesses they end up hating or feel trapped in.
- How many people are in a job that will never give them the life they want?
People are not understanding if what they are doing or are after would ever give them the feelings and fulfilment they are after.
Imagine getting to the end of your life and your life quest ended up being meaningless.
For many the most fulfilling part of life ends up not being about money or stuff, it’s about a connection to those we love is what’s most important to us.
I encourage my clients to build a life plan that will lead them to joint and individual fulfillment.
But there can be no effective vision for the future unless that person knows that vision will connect them to their true fulfilment.
So fulfilment has to be defined.
Remember if you have a life-quest please understand what it is for and know if that will really give you what you really want.
Very few people are on their deathbed wishing they had driven a better car or had more money.
If people have any regrets it’s usually about not taking more risks and wishing they had loved fearlessly.
You get one life so ensure it’s heading in the direction you would be happy with.
